Seven new characters made their playable debut in the Samurai Warriors franchise, most of them former generic non-player characters in past installments. An exclusive mode for the Wii version is the 'Murasame Castle' based on the Nintendo game Nazo no Murasame JЕЌ, which allows for the control of its lead character Takamaru.

Both Story Mode and Free Mode return, as does the shop system, which has been redesigned and is now part of 'Dojo', a section also dedicated to creating edit characters and color-edit existing characters. The option to create/edit characters from the original game returns and is required to access the new 'Historical Mode', which can be used to create an original story for edit characters by reenacting parts of historical battles. Each of the character's weapons are categorized under Normal, Speed, and Power types similar to Dynasty Warriors 6, except that each character still has unique weapons assigned to them. Certain combinations of attacks from the Xtreme Legends expansions also make a comeback. It can also be combined with Musou attacks to perform an 'True Musou'. These occur depending on the level of the gauge. The game features many gameplay improvements over previous games in the series, the most notable being the addition of the Spirit Gauge, a gauge which allows for characters to cancel certain attacks to perform more powerful ones. However, the game has a slightly extended time frame compared to the previous game while Samurai Warriors 2 is mostly focused on the events leading to the great battle of Sekigahara, this game also covers the events beforehand. So this is my thoughts on SW3 and Koei drastic turn.Like other games in the series, the game reinvents the story based on the Sengoku period of Japan, a period where Japan was ruled by powerful daimyЕЌs and where constant military conflict and much political intrigue happened that lasted from the middle of 16th century to the beginning of 17th century. However the Wii is the worst out all 3 consoles, dont get me wrong when i first saw it i thought the concept of using a remote like that to fight in a game would be fun but that is all the Wii boils down to a little fun with a remote with 90% of its games sucking ass. 360 is a nice console has a few problems but what system doesnt? Playstation 3 is pretty nice aswell, I enjoy the blue ray feature. Hopefully is is only SW3 that has switched to Wii if all warriors in the future are complety on the Wii then i guess i will just have to play the old ones over and over on the xbox360. Wouldnt be as bad if they had released it for all three consoles but just releasing it for the p.o.s Wii is a mistake. It is complete bullshit and to me one of the largest mistakes Koei could make by drastically changing the platform that the warriors games would be on.

Really, one of the laziest series in the history of gaming. I've played enough of 'em to know that they evolve even less from sequel to sequel than Pokemon or Madden. I'm just very, very wary of anymore Warriors' games. Though I'm not even sure that was announced for the US. Why go back to 'PS2 Plus' now? Why not keep moving forward?ДЄlso, if I had to choose between another uber mindless hack n slasher for Wii, I think I'd go with Capcom's Devil Kings 3. Their Fist of the North Star Warriors game looked like it had some nice lighting tech, good FX, handled shaders well, nicely sculpted/normal mapped characters - in short, it's a massive improvement all their 'PS2 Plus' looking Dynasty Warriors games that they've been pumping out all this generation. That's Koei Canada I believe) - were JUST NOW getting decent at doing current gen games. Omega Force - the devs behind all the Warriors' games (except the upcoming Warriors of Troy, I think.
